Perfect Seams, Perfect Walls: Why We Recommend Double Cutting for Wallpaper Installation
Luxury wallpaper deserves a luxury installation. Learn how double cutting creates that seamless, high-end finish and why it’s a job best left to the pros.
If you’re reading this, you know that at House Party, we’re all about bold design and impeccable quality. Every wallpaper we create is designed to make a statement. Whether it’s transforming a powder room into a jewel box or turning a dining room into a work of art. But here’s the thing: when it comes to luxury wallpaper, how it’s installed is just as important as the design itself.
That’s why all of our wallpapers are designed for installation using double cutting, a technique that ensures a completely seamless, elevated look on the wall. If you’re not familiar with double cutting, let me break it down for you.
What Is Double Cutting?
Double cutting is a method where two wallpaper panels are overlapped on the wall, and then a precise cut is made through both layers at the seam. The excess is removed, and the two pieces come together perfectly, creating an invisible seam that looks effortlessly flawless.
Why Do We Require Double Cutting?
Because our wallpapers are textured, high-end, and designed for luxury spaces, we want them to look as seamless as possible. Unlike traditional wallpaper that might have a more forgiving pattern match, our grasscloth, paperweave, and basketweave wallpapers have depth and texture that demand precision. Double cutting:
- Creates a seamless, polished finish (no bulky overlaps or visible edges!)
- Allows patterns to flow perfectly across the wall
- Prevents gaps or shrinkage over time, keeping your walls looking pristine
In layman's terms, double cutting is the difference between a wallpaper installation that looks “ehh” and one that looks to-die-for!
This Is Not a DIY Project
Now, I know we’ve got a lot of confident DIY-ers out there, but this is NOT the wallpaper to experiment with if you’re new to installation. Double cutting requires skill, precision, the right tools and a boat load of patience, which is why we always recommend hiring a professional wallpaper installer who has experience working with luxury, textured wallpapers. A pro will know exactly how to handle the material, make precise cuts, and install it in a way that makes your wallpaper (and your space!) look its absolute best...plus, you get to keep your sanity.
Luxury Wallpaper Deserves a Luxury Installation
